What do you think of when you think of Paris? Croissants? La Louvre? The Eiffel Tower surely?
It was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower.
Standing at 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, the tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; 6.98 million people ascended it in 2011,
and received its 250 millionth visitor in 2010.
Not bad for a lattice of iron! However, the debate of beauty or a beast continues. But what do you? Is it an eyesore of a construction or a master-piece?
