What happens when two of the greatest British fashion house join forces???
Voila! Welcome ‘Mulberry x Mackintosh’. Mulberry has combined forces with Mackintosh to create two limited edition 100% British trench coats.
Since first launching in 1971, Mulberry has dominated the British fashion war and has become a household name, with its signature style of combining ‘modernity and innovation with traditional craftsmanship’. Mulberry is probably best known for its Celebrity muse inspired bags, such as the Alexa (after Alexa Chung), the Del Ray (after Lana Del Ray), or its English Heritage named bags, such as the Bayswater or Somerset.
And so in 2013, Mulberry has turned a new corner, and has collaborated with Scottish rainwear brand Mackintosh. Vogue has quoted this new chapter in British fashion history as ‘The two labels are bringing together the traditional techniques dear to Mackintosh with Mulberry’s chic modernity to create two limited edition trench coats, the specialty of the Scottish brand.’
Of the two designs, the first retains the classic shape for which the house is known and is decorated with the mulberry flower-shaped buttons and a tartan lining. The second has been created exclusively for Net-a-Porter, a British online shopping boutique and features polka dots on the sleeves and hood feature, giving the coat a Fifties feel.
Limited edition trench coat Mulberry Mackintosh, Mulberry x Mackintosh, available from January 2014. Polka dot trench coat, Mulberry x Mackintosh, available exclusively on net-a-porter.com from 6th December 2013
